Caleb Ulysses Moore
2003 Hall of Fame Inductee

Caleb Ulysses Moore (Retired) was born on September 26, 1934,
in Gaffney, SC. He attended the Public Schools of Cherokee
County, SC, and then earned his B. S. Degree in Music Education
from South Carolina State University in 1956.

Mr. Moore was Band Director at Freedman High School in
Lenoir, NC, (1956-1957) before serving in the U. S. Army-266
Army Band, 1957-1959. From 1959 to 1970, he was Band
Director at Central High School in Hillsborough, NC. Mr. Moore
retired from the Orange County School System in 1990 after
serving as Band Director at Stanford Middle School in
Hillsborough, NC.

His honors and awards include the following:
1979 - Orange County Teacher of the Year,
1981 - Member of ASBDA,
1985 - Central District Award of Excellence,
1986-1988 - President of the Central Band District,
1994 - Director of the NC Honors Band.
