Stephens-Lee (High School) quickly became known for its classical music program, drama production, and, in the 1930s, its marching band. Led by Paul Dusenberry and Madison Lennon, the band traveled throughout the Southeast, compiling an impressive list of honors and achievements, for over thirty years. Lennon was band director at Stephens-Lee for twenty-five years.
