President's Message

On behalf of North Carolina’s band directors, it is a privilege to welcome you to our webpage. We hope that as you explore these pages you will find a wealth of information and resources, which will benefit you as a band director, a student, a parent, a music industry representative, or visitor.

Membership into the North Carolina Bandmasters Association is gained through application and participation in one of our seven district associations. Each district serves to represent the bands and directors within that geographic area. The district chair is each director’s voice on the NCBA State Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors meets at least twice annually (in November and in April). Subcommittees of our association work diligently, serving the interests of bands across the state. Our procedures and approved music lists undergo continuous improvement. We encourage visitors to the page to check periodically for updates.

Student events in the North Carolina Bandmasters Association are held in the ensemble areas of Marching Band and Concert Band as well as individually in one of our All- District Bands, the North Carolina All-State Honors Band for Middle, High (9-10), and Senior High (11-12), or in our Solo and Ensemble events. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of jazz events, which are sponsored by the Jazz Section of NCMEA.

The North Carolina Bandmasters Association is a division of the North Carolina Music Educators Association (www.ncmea.net) and we hold our annual conference in November as a part of the NCMEA conference.

Research indicates that students in our band programs are among the very best in North Carolina’s schools today. The support given to foster, cultivate, and uplift the rich heritage of our band programs is appreciated and never taken lightly.

It is our pleasure to serve you in any way possible. Do not hesitate to contact us if we may be of service!
