Edwin Harrington

Edwin "Eddie" Harrington was director of the Asheboro Junior High and Middle School Bands for 35 years and was instrumental in the legendary success of the Asheboro Band Program throughout his career, according to the biography prepared for his nomination and induction.

He was hired to work with Joe Fields and was the stabilizing influence for a series of subsequent AHS band directors, including Jim Graeber, Steve Bingham, the late Randy Ingold, Bernie Hall, and Phil Homiller.

He has served as a clinician for All-State Bands in North and South Carolina and Virginia and as an adjudicator for band contest and festivals throughout the region.

He retired in 1997, but continues to mentor, support and advise the city school's band program. He is married to Joyce Harrington, longtime member of the Asheboro City Board of Education.
