The Midwest Clinic
There have been seven ensembles from North Carolina chosen to play at the prestigious Midwest Clinic: two high school concert bands, one junior high school concert band, one college jazz band, one middle school jazz band, and two high school orchestras.

The two orchestras include the Greensboro High School Orchestra (Greensboro, NC) directed by J. Kimball Harriman in 1962, and the East Mecklenburg High School Orchestra (Charlotte, NC) directed by Evelyn Spratt and Harold McNeely in 1971.
In 2012, Gravelly Hill Middle School Concert Band (Efland, NC) performed as a clinic band for the session, "Teaching Ensemble Fundamentals within the Music: An Approach to Maximize Rehearsal Efficiency." The clinic was led by Dr. John Pasquale, Dr. Arris A. Golden, and Mrs. Patricia Hughes Ball.
